A Bilingual Future

The Ceredigion Local Service Board Bilingual Future Executive Group

Dyfodol Dwyieithog (A bilingual Future) is a key theme in our Single Integrated Plan 'Ceredigion for All' and each partner of the Ceredigion Local Service Board is in agreement that that we must recognise our duty not only to provide services in both Welsh and English but also to work together harder than ever before to promote and encourage the use of Welsh in every aspect of community and economic activity.

Without a doubt, Ceredigion is one of the most important heartlands of the Welsh language and of bilingual communities. Individuals and organisations from all sectors play a vital role in promoting the status of the Welsh language and in seeking its use in all aspects of life. Under the banner of Dyfodol Dwyieithog / Bilingual Future we will be consulting widely on ideas and activities that will support the good work being done already, together with identifying how to build further on these activities.

A great opportunity for you to be part of the Ceredigion Language Charter!

It is a pleasure to invite you to become part of the Ceredigion Language Charter, a new plan that recognises your commitment to providing a bilingual service. It is a plan developed by Dyfodol Dwyieithog A Bilingual Future Executive Group on behalf of the Ceredigion Local Service Board and administered by Cered, Ceredigion's Welsh Language Initiative. It is a good opportunity for you to make a clear statement about the Welsh and bilingual service you provide to your customers and users.

Its main purpose is to raise awareness of the Welsh and bilingual services that are available throughout the county. In addition to encouraging a greater consistency and cooperation between agencies. The Charter is a great way for your organisation, club or business to gain recognition for the service you provide to the public in their chosen language.

The Ceredigion Language Charter is open to every organisation, establishment, service or club or business within the County who is willing to complete a self-assessment to analyse the bilingual service offered. It is not expected that everyone will provide the same level of service and therefore gold, silver or bronze levels are used in order to identify the level of Welsh and bilingual service. If your services improve or change in the future it is possible to re-apply and seek a higher certificate. Everyone who is successful will receive a certificate to mark their achievement.
